COMMUNITY AWARENESS EVENT - Monday, June 14, 2010
Dear S.A.G.E.S. members:
The leader of the S.A.G.E.S. sub-group for Transportation, Ms. Joy Hanner, E.D. of Grace Ministries has requested that I forward this invitational flyer to the full S.A.G.E.S. contingency.
This invitation is to a mid-June community awareness event designed to:
· Raise awareness regarding the barriers that a lack of transportations imposes on the well-being, and independence, of frail seniors
· Educate the community about the "workings" of the Neighbor 2 Neighbor Transportation Program
· Garner volunteer drivers for the existing program, operating successfully in Horry County, and attracting Georgetown-based volunteers for a NtN program expansion, expected to begin in the summer of 2010.
Please consider learning more about Neighbor 2 Neighbor on June 14th. It is an innovative approach to a truly pressing problem!
Please forward the flyer to others that may be interested in learning more about the program, especially faith based communities and civic organizations that might adopt transportation as a hands-on "mission."
Many thanks for ALL you do for S.A.G.E.S., our seniors and family care providers.
