matters of interest to Prime Time Surfers: 1.) National Grandparents Day is Sunday, September 8th! In 1978, the United States Congress passed legislation proclaiming the first Sunday after Labor Day as NATIONAL GRANDPARENTS DAY. The purpose of the holiday is to honor grandparents and to give them a special day to be showered with love by their children's children and to help grandchildren recognize the wisdom, strength, information and guidance that their grandparents offer. We here in the U.S. make a big deal out of Mother's Day, and to a lesser extent, Father's Day; yet, many of us are not even aware that there is a Grandparents Day. It's not a matter that grandparents are not important to us. Maybe we have lost our grandparents, or perhaps we feel that honoring our mothers and fathers on their special days give us an opportunity to honor our grandparents, as well, on those days. Regardless, why not take a special moment to send a card, drop an email, create an e-card, or better yet, pick up the phone and make a call. And, if you're inclined to send a gift to your grandparents that will enhance their lifestyle, we at www.SeniorSSuperStoreS.com have hundreds of carefully selected products to meet those needs. If you are a grandparent, stop and give thanks for those youngsters who will carry on your legacy. Perhaps you may want to initiate that call to your grandchildren and brighten both your and their day! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~2.) A Revolutionary And Affordable New Solution For Hearing Loss We are extremely proud to have been selected as one of the very few merchants approved to feature a revolutionary new approach to the problem of hearing loss. While conventional hearing aids have been around for years, they are far from an ideal solution to a prevalent problem for many of us as we age. They are expensive (although Medicare does help out to a degree), the batteries are costly (no help from Medicare here), often are quite limited in adaptability, cannot be adjusted by the user and are expensive and time consuming to have repaired. The new Audium 2 uses a rechargeable internal power cell that provides several full days of operation and then can be quickly recharged with the charger that comes with the unit; thus, no more batteries to buy. The Audium 2 delivers crystal clear sound free of background noise with up to 20 times the power of normal hearing aids, and the user can adjust the equalization and power for the needs of each ear. The unit instantly connects to any telephone, TV, stereo or radio, allowing the user ease of listening without disturbing others. Get the full details of the Audium 2 in our Assisted Hearingdepartment. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~3.) Another New Telephone Scam To Be Aware Of The FCC has provided some very interesting information called "Consumer Alerts and Factsheets." It provides information on important telephone, broadcasting and Internet scams. For example, a new scam alert was posted called "Beware of Telemarketing Scam." Here's how this scam works: As the call progresses, the scammer asks you for personal information, such as your Social Security, credit card and/or bank account numbers, supposedly to confirm that the scammer is talking with the correct person. The scammers then have the info to commit identity fraud. Here is what the FCC says about Do-Not-Call registries: You should not receive a call from such a registry. Signing up for these state-sponsored Do-Not-Call lists is generally initiated by the consumer. It is usually free (or requires only a very nominal fee). Once you are signed up for such a Do-Not-Call registry, there is no reason for follow-up calls. Further, you should NEVER need to verify your registration with personal or financial information. For more on this Telemarketing scam, visit:
www.fcc.gov Telemarketing scam For instructions about how to remove your name from Do-Not-Call lists with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), a free consumer service sponsored by the Direct Marketing Association, go to HOW TO REMOVE YOUR NAME FROM TELEPHONE CALL LISTS in our Community Room. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~4.)
